Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery
Plastic surgery can produce amazing results and since it’s been available, celebrities have been looking to cosmetic surgeons to help them in there careers. The two have gone hand in hand from the beginning. It’s been a win, win situation for all concerned. Surgeons get great advertising and celebrities get to hold onto their looks and earning power for longer than ever before.
So, if this is the case then why is it that so many of our favourite stars try to cover up the fact that they have had surgery?
Britney Spears went into hospital for a knee operation and emerged with larger looking breasts. She has never admitted to having her any type of breasts augmentation surgery.
Michael Jackson, whose long list of speculated cosmetic procedures started in 1984, has only ever owned up to having two nose jobs. He has never admitted any skin lightening or any of the other suggested facial surgeries which have been well documented by the media.
Jessica Simpson is another young starlet who claims to be all natural despite a lot of speculation and photographs suggesting otherwise. The media seem hell bent on proving that she has had her breasts enlarged and more recently her lips enhanced with collagen.
Not all stars hide at the suggestion of plastic surgery. Some are rather proud of the results and are happy to admit it.
Demi Moore vanished of the celebrity radar to raise her three daughters with then husband Bruce Willis. In 2002 she made her big come back but not before a reported £250,000 body transformation followed by a £5,000 knee lift. The fantastic results have given her a body unobtainable by women 20 years her junior.
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne have made no secret of the cosmetic procedures they’ve had. Ozzy confessed to having a nose job and a facelift after seeing the results of his wife Sharon’s procedures. She reportedly spent £120,000 on cosmetic surgery which included liposuction a tummy tuck and a brow lift.
Jamie Lee Curtis admitted to having eyelid surgery, Botox injection and liposuction. Her openness was an attempt to make people realise that not even stars can look as good as they are perceived to without a little help. She has also appeared in a magazine without the mercy of good lighting and airbrushing technique with the same goal.
With the number of celebrities turning to cosmetic surgery to do what makeup can’t there are bound to be a few unfortunates who don’t get the results they are hoping for. It was reported that Lesley Ash claims that her choice to have her lips enhanced damaged her career and her health. After suffering an allergic reaction from collagen lip implants she was hounded by the media and branded with the nickname trout pout. A name that still haunts her today.
Another tragic cosmetic surgery story is the outcome of Pete Burns face after multiple procedures. It’s hard to tell what remains of his original features. His lips have purposefully been enlarged to a size much larger than should ever be allowed. His cheek implants are not in proportion with the rest of his face and his nose has been shaved within an inch of non-existence.
With the correlation between cosmetic surgery and stars it was only a matter of time before cosmetic surgery started spawning its own stars. Regular people who where willing to do extreme things to get noticed. Jocelyne Wildenstein was a New York society wife to a hugely wealthy art dealer. When his eyes started wondering to younger women, the story goes that she decided to do what ever it took to keep him. Being well aware of his love for cats she decided that with the help of a plastic surgeon she would transform herself into one. After countless surgeries she achieved that goal. Unfortunately Jocelyne’s husband reaction was one of horror and the two where divorced. Not all was lost for Jocelyn though, she has become world famous and was awarded millions in divorce court by a sympathetic judge who saw her husbands roving eye at the route of the problem.
Nowadays it’s quite common for normal people to go into surgeries and request to look more like there favourite stars. The most request famous features are Angelina Jolie’s lips, Nicole Kidman’s nose, and Catharine Zeta Jones’ eyes. Wouldn’t it be great if celebrities had to disclose any surgeries? Then we would know if what be where requesting was indeed theirs and if it wasn’t who their surgeon was.
